Sidoarjo Police Shoot Motorbike Theft Ring Leader During Arrest

The Criminal Investigation Unit of the Sidoarjo Police has uncovered a motorbike theft ring that had been troubling the local community. Officers arrested four suspects who are believed to have carried out their crimes in 18 different locations across the Sidoarjo region. One of the four suspects, a man with the initial H who acted as the mastermind of the group, was shot in the leg by officers. The firm and measured action was taken because H attempted to resist arrest. The head of the Sidoarjo Police Mobile Investigation Unit, Iptu M Rofik, revealed that the group’s modus operandi involved making false accusations against their victims. ‘Their method was to accuse the victim of assaulting a woman. When the victim panicked and became frightened, the perpetrators would seize the victim’s motorbike,’ Iptu M Rofik stated on Saturday. Further investigation revealed that two of the four arrested suspects were also involved in a series of muggings in the jurisdiction of the Surabaya Police. The two suspects have been transferred to the Surabaya Police for further legal proceedings. Currently, the suspects and the evidence are being held at the Sidoarjo Police detention centre to undergo further legal processing.
