Sidoarjo Police Launch Simantap, Allowing Residents to Renew Driving Licences at Night
The Sidoarjo Resort Police (Polresta Sidoarjo) launched the Simantap (SIM Malam Satu Atap) service innovation today. This service is presented as a solution for residents who find it difficult to renew their driving licences (SIM) on active days due to work activities. The launch of Simantap was held concurrently with the Bhayangkara Day Thanksgiving event at Polresta Sidoarjo, led by Sidoarjo Police Chief Commissioner Christian Tobing together with the Sidoarjo Regency Regional Leadership Coordination Forum (Forkopimda) on Wednesday (1/7/2026). The presence of this service is part of Polresta Sidoarjo’s efforts to improve the quality of public services, making them more accessible to the community. Sidoarjo Police Traffic Unit Head, Commissioner Yudhi Anugrah Putra, explained that the Simantap service is located at entrance B of the Sidoarjo Sports Complex (GOR). It operates every Saturday and Sunday from 6:00 PM to 9:00 PM Western Indonesian Time. “We understand that not all residents have the opportunity to renew their driving licences during working hours. Therefore, we are presenting Simantap, which operates in the evening every weekend. We hope residents can still renew their SIMs without disrupting their work activities,” said Commissioner Yudhi in his statement. Yudhi stated that the service is part of Polresta Sidoarjo’s commitment to continuously innovate in serving the public. The momentum of the 80th Bhayangkara Day was utilised to bring services that are closer, faster, and provide convenience for residents. The launch of Simantap received a positive response from the public. One such response came from Ibnu Mundir, a resident of Buduran District, who admitted that he had previously struggled to renew his driving licence because he works in Surabaya and cannot leave work during office service hours. “I leave for work in the morning and return in the afternoon, so I almost never have time to take care of my SIM on weekdays. With this night service, I feel greatly helped. After returning from work, I can still come to renew my SIM without having to take leave,” said Ibnu. Polresta Sidoarjo hopes that the presence of Simantap can improve public compliance in renewing driving licences on time while bringing police services closer to residents. This innovation also embodies the spirit of transforming public services to be more adaptive to the needs of the community.
