The Traffic Police Unit (Satlantas) of Sidoarjo Metropolitan Police has begun enforcement operations against freight vehicles operating outside permitted restrictions ahead of the Ramadan holiday exodus in 2026. This action is intended to reduce congestion on main routes during the 13–29 March 2026 period.

Kasatlantas Polresta Sidoarjo AKP Yudhi Anugrah Putra stated that field personnel are currently prioritising persuasive measures through outreach campaigns and written warnings. However, the police are prepared to issue traffic fines to drivers who remain non-compliant in the near future.

In accordance with operational regulations for freight transport during the Ramadan period, several vehicle categories are subject to restrictions. These include cargo vehicles with three or more axles, articulated vehicles and semi-trailers, as well as mineral/mining transport (earth, sand, stone) and building material transport.

Despite strict enforcement of the restrictions, AKP Yudhi emphasised that certain vehicle categories remain permitted to operate to maintain essential supplies for the public. These include fuel and gas transport, livestock transport, disaster relief logistics, staple goods (groceries) and fertiliser transport.

“We are currently in the socialisation phase with written warnings. However, after this period, we will take strict action by issuing on-the-spot fines for vehicles that violate the restrictions,” said AKP Yudhi.

This measure is expected to facilitate smooth travel for residents undertaking the holiday exodus to and from the Sidoarjo region.

The Ministry of Transportation (Kemenhub) has reminded truck operators and drivers of three-axle and larger vehicles to comply with operational restrictions during the year-end and New Year holiday period. Manufacturing industries in flat glass, lightweight concrete, and ceramics have raised concerns regarding the planned operational restrictions on three-axle trucks. Exporters have proposed exemptions from restrictions on three-axle truck operations during the Christmas 2025 and New Year 2026 holidays. The Indonesian Logistics and Freight Forwarder Association (ALFI) has criticised the announcement and socialisation of three-axle truck operational restrictions on toll roads during the Prophet Muhammad’s Birthday public holiday. The Jakarta Provincial Government is restricting freight transport operations on Jakarta toll road sections from 13–29 March 2026 to facilitate smooth holiday travel. The government, through the Ministry of Transportation, is implementing operational restrictions on freight transport during the 2026 Eid al-Fitr holiday period to ensure smooth holiday exodus travel. Transport Minister Dudy Purwagandhi has confirmed the implementation of restrictions on freight vehicles during the Christmas 2025 and New Year 2026 holidays. The Association of National Logistics Companies (Aptrindo) hopes the government will not apply excessively long duration restrictions on three-axle logistics trucks during the Christmas 2025 and New Year 2026 holidays.
