JAKARTA — The Director of Traffic at the Metro Jaya Police Headquarters, Kombes Pol Komarudin, stated that the identity card (KTP) carried by Hafiz Mahendra (25), the driver of a Toyota Calya vehicle caught driving against traffic on Gunung Sahari Road, Central Jakarta, was forged.

This discovery was made following police investigation into related findings.

“In addition to sharp weapons, his identity was also fraudulent. The Sidoarjo KTP was forged,” Komarudin stated when confirmed by Kompas.com on Saturday (28/2/2026).

“The suspect is being detained for separate charges arising from the investigation. These are separate matters involving a sharp weapon and document falsification,” Komarudin said.

Regarding the discovery of four different licence plates in the vehicle driven by Hafiz, Komarudin stated this matter was still under investigation. “The fraudulent plates are still being developed,” he added.

In a previous report, Hafiz Mahendra (25), the driver of the Toyota Calya caught driving against traffic on Gunung Sahari Road, Central Jakarta, was suspected of using a forged identity card. This was determined from cross-checking Hafiz’s personal data on the KTP with information recorded at the Population and Civil Registration Office (Dukcapil).

According to Hafiz’s admission, the suspected forged KTP was used to deceive his girlfriend who was a passenger in the vehicle. “Based on initial statements, (the use of a suspected forged KTP) was to prevent his girlfriend from knowing his real identity as he was embarrassed, believing himself to be financially disadvantaged,” the statement continued.

According to the police report, Hafiz Mahendra is the real name of the Toyota Calya driver. However, the KTP he was using had the name written with the initials HF.

Additionally, examination revealed Hafiz did not possess a driving licence (SIM) or vehicle registration document (STNK) when driving the vehicle and driving against traffic on Wednesday (26/2/2026).

Police also disclosed that the woman who was a passenger in the vehicle driven by Hafiz was his girlfriend. When taken into custody by police, the woman was not carrying an identity card. “She left it behind, according to what his girlfriend said,” the officer stated.
