Sido Muncul Provides Aid to 1,000 Poor Families in Semarang Regency
Pharmaceutical and traditional medicine company Sido Muncul Tbk distributed assistance to 1,000 economically disadvantaged residents in Semarang Regency, Central Java, on Thursday, 12 March. This routine activity, held annually during Ramadan, forms part of the company’s corporate social responsibility efforts directed towards communities surrounding its manufacturing facility in Ungaran-Bergas.
The assistance was symbolically presented by Sido Muncul Director Irwan Hidayat, together with Ngesti Nugroho, at the Sido Muncul Bergas facility.
Irwan stated that the charitable initiative has been conducted for 11 consecutive years. This year, the company distributed assistance valued at Rp200 million to residents from six villages and subdistricts surrounding the factory.
“This is the 11th time we have provided assistance to 1,000 economically disadvantaged residents. Previously, on 5 March, we also distributed assistance to 1,000 orphaned children in Jakarta,” said Irwan.
Aid was provided to residents of Bergas Kidul Village, Diwak Village, Klepu Village, and Ngempon, Karangjati, and Muktiharjo Lor subdistricts. Each recipient received a package containing rice, sugar, cooking oil, instant noodles, wafers, and Sido Muncul health products.
Irwan stated that the initiative represents the company’s social responsibility to communities in its operational area. “It is not about how much is given, but how much benefit it provides,” he said.
Semarang Regent Ngesti Nugroho appreciated the company’s concern for residents in his regency. According to him, the assistance proved particularly helpful to residents ahead of the Eid al-Fitr holiday.
“We hope this kind of concern continues so that the benefits are increasingly felt by the people of Semarang Regency,” said Ngesti.
