Sido Muncul Distributes Ramadan Blessings to 1,000 Orphans
JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com – PT Industri Jamu Dan Farmasi Sido Munciu Tbk (Sido Muncul) distributed donation of Rp 200 million to 1,000 orphans from the Jakarta area and surroundings during Ramadan 1447 Hijriah.
The event, titled “Santunan untuk 1.000 Anak Yatim,” was held at the House of Jamu, Cipete Selatan, South Jakarta, on Thursday (5/3/2026).
The donation was symbolic handed over by Sido Muncul Director Dr (HC) Irwan Hidayat to representatives of orphans from 15 institutions and foundations. The handover was witnessed by the local head of Cipete Selatan, Supriono.
Each orphan on the beneficiary list receives cash of Rp 200,000. Irwan said that besides sharing, the activity is a form of gratitude as the company will mark its 75th year in November 2026.
“We are very grateful to be able to share with the orphans in the Cipete area and its surroundings. The assistance we provide is cash amounting to Rp 200 million. Each child will receive Rp 200,000,” said Irwan.
Beneficiaries come from 15 institutions and foundations, including Al-Ikhlas Cipete, Mizan Amanah Cilandak, Pengajian H. Saidi, Panti Asuhan Mizan Cipete Utara, Yayasan Al-Andalusia, and Majelis Ta’lim At Taufik.
Also included are Majelis Ta’lim Al Muawwanah, Al Ittihadiyah, Panti Yasni (Yayasan Sejahtera Insani), Yayasan Pundi Amal Dermawan Indonesia, Panti Asuhan Yos Sudarso, Mizan Pasar Minggu, Mizan Karang Tengah, Panti Asuhan Anak Yatim Piatu Muslim Nusantara Foundation, and Cipete Selatan Sub-district.
The Sido Muncul donation activity is not a one-off programme. Long before arriving in Jakarta, the company had already conducted a similar sharing tradition in Semarang, Central Java.
“This activity has routinely been carried out for 11 years in Semarang. Meanwhile, in Jakarta it is the fifth year. We are very grateful and hope the donation will be useful and help a portion of their needs, especially in welcoming Eid al-Fitr,” Irwan said.
Not only in Jakarta, Sido Muncul will also distribute aid to 1,000 the poor in Semarang in the following week. The total beneficiaries from this Ramadhan programme this year reach 2,000 people.
“Ramadan is a month of blessings. Thus, for us, this donation activity is an opportunity to do good and share happiness, especially with orphans. After all, even the smallest aid given will be beneficial to the recipients,” added Irwan.
Behind the Rp 200 million and 1,000 beneficiaries, there is one factor that motivates Irwan, namely the principle he calls “akal budi.” Irwan is not a graduate. He claims only a high school diploma and rarely studied. However, that limitation did not prevent him from building Sido Muncul into one of Indonesia’s largest herbal medicine companies.
The key is not a degree or an expensive consultant, but a universal law that he calls akal budi. This principle is what he entrusted to the orphans present that afternoon.
“Acknowledge the intelligence given by God. The second, use your intellect. If we want to be loved, we must love. If we want to be respected, we must respect others,” Irwan told the beneficiaries.
The CSR activity drew praise from the local government. Cipete Selatan Sub-district head Supriono welcomed the move by Sido Muncul and hoped the synergy between entrepreneurs and the village administration can continue to grow for the welfare of residents.
“The Ramadan charity event today is not merely providing gifts, but also a form of concern from Mr Irwan to residents of Cipete Selatan,” said Supriono.
The beneficiaries also expressed gratitude. Nuril Anwar, representative of Yayasan Al-Andalusia, said the foundation was thankful to again receive Sido Muncul’s trust.
For him, the Ramadan donation programme is not merely material aid, but also a tangible example of corporate social responsibility that other large companies should imitate.
“We express our thanks to Sido Muncul for this very extraordinary programme held every Ramadan. The programme must be maintained indefinitely and could be used as an example to other large companies to have the same programme during the holy month of Ramadan,” Nuril said.
Nuril added that the donated funds would be used to support the foundation’s operational needs during Ramadan, including daily meals and preparations for Eid for the orphans under their care.
A similar sentiment was expressed by Siti Zubaedah, representative of Yayasan Pundi Amal Dermawan Indonesia. She thanked Sido Muncul’s assistance and believed the donation would bring tangible benefits to orphans during fasting and Eid al-Fitr 1447 AH.
