SIBS@ASEAN 2026 Bandung Edition Strengthens Selangor–West Java Regional Economic Collaboration
The Selangor State Government (Malaysia) and the West Java Provincial Government (Indonesia) today officially launched the inaugural SIBS@ASEAN 2026 Bandung Edition. Held at the Pullman Grand Central Bandung, this landmark event marks a significant leap forward in expanding Selangor’s flagship business platform into the ASEAN region while strengthening robust cross-border economic alliances between Selangor and West Java.
Invest Selangor Berhad (ISB), as the programme organiser, with assistance from the West Java Provincial Investment and One-Stop Integrated Services Office (DPMPTSP), as well as other key partners such as Invest Bandung, the Malaysia Chambers of Commerce & Industry (MCCI), KADIN Jawa Barat, and HIPMI Jaya, coordinated the two-day regional summit on 9 to 10 July 2026. The summit aimed to unlock opportunities in bilateral trade and investment relations, drive industrial investment, and foster long-term partnerships between the two dynamic economic powerhouses.
Reflecting a strong and growing bilateral commitment to regional economic growth, the event successfully attracted over 400 delegates, comprising 225 delegates from Malaysia and 200 delegates from Indonesia.
Held in parallel with SIBS@ASEAN 2026 Bandung Edition was the Selangor Medical Tourism and Education Expo, organised through a partnership with Tourism Selangor and Education Malaysia Global Services (EMGS). The expo featured a two-day dedicated showcase with 30 booths dedicated to positioning both regions as premier destinations for advanced healthcare services, wellness, and higher education.

SIBS@ASEAN 2026 Bandung Edition opened with a Welcome Address from H. Muhammad Farhan (Mayor of Bandung) and Mr. Ng Sze Han (Selangor State Executive Councillor for Investment, Trade, and Mobility), followed by a Special Keynote Address by the heads of government of both regions: H. Erwan Setiawan (Vice Governor of West Java) and Dato’ Seri Amirudin bin Shari (Dato’ Menteri Besar of Selangor), both of whom emphasised the importance of strategic collaboration and partnership between two key growth regions within ASEAN.
The event also witnessed the official exchange of memorandum of understanding documents covering strategic partnerships, fostering institutional collaboration in the public and private sectors:

Special Presentations and Industry Insights:
Key Investment and Industry Opportunities: Exclusive presentations highlighted high-potential investment corridors. Key frameworks were presented by Dr. H. Dedi Taufik (Head of the West Java Provincial Investment and One-Stop Integrated Services Office) and Helmy Yahya (Chief Executive of the Rebana Metropolitan Management Agency), both of whom shared insights on West Java’s strategic infrastructure master plans. Complementing this, Mej (K) Dermo’ Ts. Saipolyazan M Yusop (Group CEO of Menteri Besar Selangor Incorporated) presented Selangor’s strategic blueprint as a leading industry enabler and premier regional partner.
Panel Discussions (ASEAN Supply Chain Integration and Talent Landscape): The first panel session highlighted the potential for complementary supply chain ecosystems in the region and how Malaysia and Indonesia can lead, while the second panel discussed the persistent challenges of cross-border talent movement in the region. Key panellists included Ms Nurdiana Darus – Director of Communication, Corporate Affairs, Sustainability, Unilever Indonesia; Dato’ J. Palaniappan (ASEAN Future Workforce Council); Dr. Venkatachalam Anbumozhi – Director of Research Strategy and Innovations, Economic Research Institute for ASEAN and East Asia (ERIA); and Mr. Christ Panogari (Innovation Factory), with moderators Dr. Ong Kian Ming (RGE Malaysia/Former Deputy Minister of MITI Malaysia) and Hj. Masrura Ram Idjal, KADIN Jawa Barat.
Financial Landscape: CIMB Niaga and Bank BJB also presented on the business and financial landscape in ASEAN, particularly within the context of Malaysia and Indonesia.
