SIBS 2026 Opens Investment and Cooperation Opportunities Between Selangor and West Java

The Selangor International Business Summit (SIBS) ASEAN 2026 is opening up investment opportunities and strengthening economic cooperation between Selangor, Malaysia, and West Java, Indonesia, through a forum that convened government, business players, and investors in Bandung. Dato Menteri Besar Selangor Dato Sari Amirudin bin Shari stated that the forum not only focuses on business opportunities but also discusses broader bilateral cooperation. “In the Selangor International Business Summit, one of the main agendas is business matching and coordination through bodies such as Invest Selangor and other related institutions. Therefore, the business sector will greatly benefit from the relationships built through this forum,” he said in Bandung on Thursday. He added that all ideas generated in the forum must be followed up through cooperation between communities, institutions, companies, and governments. “One interesting outcome from this meeting is the idea of forming a consistent forum between Selangor and the various ministries and local governments present,” he said. He expressed hope that the forum could become a platform for discussing various bilateral cooperation, including the development of the semiconductor industry, food security, energy, and defence. “That is why I emphasise that this cooperation must go beyond mere business matters. If we only talk about business, people will only think about profit. Yet there are other equally important aspects, such as culture, sovereignty, security, and prosperity,” he said. Meanwhile, West Java Deputy Governor Erwan Setiawan said West Java has considerable potential that can be developed together with Selangor, ranging from manufacturing, infrastructure, and tourism to trade. “There are many sectors we will develop together besides manufacturing, infrastructure, tourism, and other trade. We will develop cooperation between West Java and Selangor, and I hope business players in West Java can seize this opportunity,” Erwan said. He added that West Java also wants to strengthen its Islamic economy development by learning from Malaysia, which is considered to have successfully become one of the world’s Islamic economy hubs. “We also want to develop and learn from Malaysia, especially Selangor, on how to boost the Islamic economy. So that West Java, which has received the Adinata Syariah award, can develop and practically implement this in the community,” he said.
