SIBS 2026 Opens Investment and Cooperation Opportunities Between Selangor and West Java
Kota Bandung (ANTARA) - The Selangor International Business Summit (SIBS) ASEAN 2026 is opening up investment opportunities and strengthening economic cooperation between Selangor (Malaysia) and West Java through a forum bringing together governments, business players, and investors, held in the city of Bandung.
Selangor Menteri Besar Dato Seri Amirudin bin Shari said the forum focuses not only on business opportunities but also on broader bilateral cooperation.
“Within the Selangor International Business Summit, one of the main agendas is business matching and coordination through institutions such as Invest Selangor and various related bodies. For that reason, the business sector will reap significant benefits from the relationships built through this forum,” said Dato in Bandung on Thursday.
According to him, all ideas born from the forum must be followed up through cooperation between communities, institutions, companies, and governments.
“One of the interesting aspects of this meeting is the idea of establishing a consistent forum between Selangor and several ministries and regional governments in attendance,” he said.
He expressed hope that the forum could serve as a venue for discussing various forms of bilateral cooperation, including the development of the semiconductor industry, food security, energy, and defence.
“That is why I stress that this cooperation must go beyond mere business matters. If we only talk business, people will think solely of profit. Yet there are other equally important aspects, such as culture, sovereignty, security, and prosperity,” he said.
Meanwhile, West Java Deputy Governor Erwan Setiawan said West Java has considerable potential to be developed together with Selangor, spanning the manufacturing, infrastructure, tourism, and trade sectors.
“There are many sectors we will develop together beyond manufacturing, infrastructure, tourism, and other trade. We will develop cooperation between West Java and Selangor, and I hope business players in West Java can seize these opportunities,” said Erwan.
He added that West Java also wishes to strengthen the development of the sharia economy by learning from Malaysia, which is regarded as having successfully become one of the world’s centres for sharia economics.
“We also want to develop and learn from Malaysia, particularly Selangor, on how to advance the sharia economy. That way, the Adinata Syariah award already received by West Java can be developed and put into real practice across West Javan society,” he said.
