Siamese twins face operation

SEMARANG, Central Java: Dr. Kariadi Hospital will soon operate on a pair of Siamese twins, Aghnefia I and Aghnefia II, who were born in the Islamic Hospital in Tegal on Feb. 12, Antara reported.

"We'll undertake the operation as soon as the twins are in fit condition," the hospital director, Dr. Anityo Mochtar, said on Wednesday. The medical team will be headed by Dr. Sudigbya.

The twins, who are joined at the chest and abdomen, are currently being treated at the hospital's intensive care unit. Their combined birth weight was 5.350 kg. They presently weigh 6.8 kg.(swe)
