SIA to outsource some IT functions
SINGAPORE: Singapore Airlines (SIA) said on Tuesday it will outsource some functions performed by its information technology (IT) infrastructure department in a bid to trim costs.
"Singapore Airlines operates in a highly competitive industry where costs can be a major differential between us and our competitors," the airline said in a statement.
"As an airline, we must work to bring our costs down to be competitive. In turn, this means, as an airline, we need to search for efficiencies in the way we do business, including using new technology."
Management is reviewing the proposed outsourcing plans, to be implemented later this year, and it was too early to determine how the exercise will affect staff, the airline said. -- AFP
