SIA sets 'Bali Spectacular'

JAKARTA (JP): Singapore Airlines (SIA) has launched its "Bali Spectacular" program to attract more tourists to the popular tourist destination.

The airline announced on Friday that it would invest a total of S$500,000 in its Bali program, which was initially promoted in the United States, the United Kingdom and Singapore.

The program will be extended to markets in Europe, including Italy, Switzerland and Scandinavia, as well as other East Asian markets, including Hong Kong, Taiwan, South Korea and the Philippines.

The company will also promote the program in South Africa, Dubai and Mauritius.

The program comprises discounted three to six-day holiday packages and will last until the end of March 1999.

The promotion is expected to lure 12,000 visitors to the island for a total of 50,000 hotel room nights.

A group of 90 tourists from the United States, the first Bali Spectacular group, arrived in Bali on Friday, the airline said. (rid)
