SINGAPORE (DPA): Singapore Airlines' aircraft leasing arm, Singapore Aircraft Leasing Enterprises (SALE), has placed orders with the European consortium Airbus Industrie for two more A320 planes, Airbus said yesterday.
SALE is principally owned by Singapore Airlines and United States-based Bouillon Aviation Services.
The agreement to buy the two planes brings to 16 the total number of Airbus planes ordered by SALE, which holds further options for eight aircraft of any type from the A320 family, an Airbus spokesman said.
SALE began taking delivery of the A320s in January this year, with the aircraft being operated by America West Airlines and the Irish charter carrier Transaer.
SALE has also secured future placements for aircraft, to be delivered in 1998 and 1989, with America West Airlines, Qatar Airways and the Spanish national carrier Iberia.
