SINGAPORE (Dow Jones): National carrier Singapore Airlines Ltd. (SIA) said Thursday it will launch a joint thrice-weekly freighter service with Japan Airlines (JAL) between Singapore and Tokyo.
The service is subjected to approval from Japanese authorities and will begin April 9. It will ship commodities such as seafood and chilled meat from Singapore, Australia, Indonesia and New Zealand.
The freighter service will depart from Singapore Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday, while the freighter service will depart from Tokyo every Monday, Tuesday and Friday.
Singapore Airlines will operate the Friday services. The Singapore carrier will operate a B747-400 Mega Ark freighter and Japan Airlines will utilize a B747-200 freighter.
