SIA cuts fares to seven cities

SINGAPORE: Singapore Airlines (SIA) announced Monday promotional
fares of S$98 Singapore (US$60) for return trips from the city-
state to seven Asian cities, amid rising competition from budget
carriers.

The seven destination cities were Bangkok, Hong Kong, Jakarta,
Hanoi, Taipei, Shenzhen and Perth, the carrier said in a
statement.

Bookings for the promotion can only be made between Monday and
Thursday this week over SIA's website, while the flights must be
taken between March 27 and April 14.

The fares are a steep discount to SIA's normal rates. A
standard return trip to Hanoi with SIA normally costs S$550,
excluding taxes and fuel surcharges. The promotional rates
exclude taxes and fuel surcharges. -- AFP
