Newly launched blockchain and AI-based entertainment ecosystem SHOW Token has committed massive funding of up to US$100 million, equivalent to Rp1.8 trillion, to support the film industry in Indonesia. CEO Akshay Melwani explained during the launch that the funding serves as a solution to reduce the high capital barriers faced by players in the domestic film and entertainment industry. “Indonesia has an extraordinary wealth of narratives, but often our steps are halted in the domestic market due to limitations in global infrastructure. At SHOW, we are not waiting for the global door to open; we are building a new digital ecosystem where the nation’s work can be directly accessed, owned, and appreciated by the world without intermediaries,” Melwani stated. He explained that the US$100 million funding is prepared as a stimulus to inject the creative economy industry and modernise the entertainment ecosystem in Southeast Asia. Focusing on the Indonesian domestic market, SHOW Token seeks to realise this funding directly into the real production ecosystem on the ground without delay. The funding is targeted to produce more than 30 horror and drama film titles throughout the year. SHOW Token is collaborating with top production houses, including MVP Pictures and A&Z Production, to support featured films. COO Joshua Khubani assessed that the US$100 million investment target in Southeast Asia is not merely a growth figure, but about building a new architecture for the digital creative economy. “We view Indonesia not as a consumptive market, but as an epicentre of talent that has long lacked liquidity and an efficient distribution system. We are here to solve that inefficiency,” Khubani said.
