Show no mercy

Show no mercy
on corruptors

From Media Indonesia

The raids on entertainment centers, which sometimes allow
prostitution to take place, show the government's concern over
the morality of society. But we cannot just blame commercial sex
workers for their activities, as most of them are forced to
choose this profession due to economic pressures and the lack of
skill and education for conventional employment.

A survey conducted by a student group has even revealed one
case in which a sex worker sacrificed her future for her younger
sister. If she refused to do the job, her parents would have had
to plunge her sister into prostitution to help support the
family. Though it was against her conscience, she made a noble
decision in order to save her sister.

Now the question is, why has the government not taken sterner
action against corruptors, as it has done against commercial sex
workers? In fact, there should be no mercy on corruptors because
they have inflicted the greatest losses on the state. While
prostitutes are being chased, why are big corruptors left
untouched?
