Shouts of ‘Thank You, Mr Jokowi’ Mark Jokowi's Visit to Kupang Car Free Day

The atmosphere at the Car Free Day (CFD) on El Tari Street, Kupang, East Nusa Tenggara (NTT), on Saturday (1/8), turned boisterous as the 7th President of Indonesia, Joko Widodo (Jokowi), participated in a leisure walk. Amidst the crowd, shouts of ‘Thank you, Mr Jokowi’ could be heard from residents welcoming his arrival.

Jokowi’s arrival immediately drew the attention of the public, including those exercising or enjoying the CFD atmosphere. Citizens flocked towards him to get a closer look, with many capturing the moment on their mobile phones, while others attempted to approach him for handshakes and photographs.

The shouts of ‘Thank you, Mr Jokowi’ were heard several times from the crowd as Jokowi passed by, echoing the greetings and waves from other residents. The enthusiasm was also evident among children, some of whom sought higher vantage points to catch a glimpse of him, including a child carried on a parent’s shoulders who called out to the President.

Participating in the CFD was one of Jokowi’s scheduled activities during his stay in Kupang. Having arrived in NTT on Friday (31/7), his visit included several scheduled programmes, such as attending the Regional Coordination Meeting (Rakorda).
