Shouts of 'Baby Killer' Directed at Netanyahu
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu was shouted at and called a ‘baby killer’ by pro-Palestinian activists during a protest in Washington DC, United States. The incident occurred inside the hotel where Netanyahu was dining.
Netanyahu is currently on a visit to the United States, where he is under heavy security. During his visit, Netanyahu has met with US President Donald Trump and high-ranking American officials, and attended a memorial service for the late US Senator Lindsey Graham, a staunch supporter of Israel. Netanyahu has been staying at the Four Seasons Hotel in Georgetown, Washington DC, which was the site of the protest.
As reported by The Jerusalem Post and TRT World, the confrontation occurred when several pro-Palestinian activists managed to enter the lobby of the Four Seasons Hotel in Georgetown on Monday (24/7) local time. They attempted to enter the restaurant where Netanyahu was having dinner. Security personnel and US police acted swiftly to forcibly remove the activists from the hotel building. During the removal process, the activists shouted condemnations at Netanyahu.
“Bibi, Bibi, you cannot hide. You have committed genocide!” shouted one activist in the hotel lobby, as heard in video footage published by TRT World. “War criminal! Baby killer!” another activist added.
The activists continued to shout their condemnations even as they were escorted out of the hotel lobby by security and police personnel.
The confrontation at the hotel took place alongside broader protests across Washington DC, where hundreds of demonstrators marched towards the White House and US government office complexes. During the protest, demonstrators waved Palestinian flags and carried banners and posters rejecting Netanyahu’s visit. On the streets of Washington DC, protesters also expressed strong opposition to US support for Israel’s military operations.
Using loudspeakers, demonstrators urged the US government to execute the International Criminal Court (ICC) arrest warrants against Netanyahu regarding allegations of war crimes and crimes against humanity in the Gaza war. “Benjamin Netanyahu is a war criminal; the only place he deserves is behind the bars of the ICC, as there is already an arrest warrant for that, and I do not want my tax money used to defend someone like him,” shouted one demonstrator. “We demand the United States government comply with the ICC warrant and arrest Netanyahu, then hand him over to the international court so he can be held accountable for his actions in orchestrating genocide against the Palestinian people,” another protester stated.
