Shot HK aid worker on her way home
HONG KONG: A Red Cross worker shot in the neck while helping tsunami-hit communities in Indonesia's Aceh province was on her way home to Hong Kong on Tuesday following requests from her family, a spokeswoman said.
Eva Yeung was due to arrive in the Chinese territory later on Tuesday and be transferred to a local hospital, Red Cross Hong Kong spokeswoman Almen Chui told AFP.
"She is doing good, she is doing fine," Chui said of 28-year old Yeung's condition following an operation last week in a Singapore hospital, where she was evacuated after the shooting.
"She is coming home because her family wanted her to be here," Chui added.
Yeung was shot as she traveled in a Red Cross-marked vehicle in the strife-torn region last Wednesday. -- AFP
