TEMPO Interactive, Bandung:Limited educational facilities is the main impediment to producing more oil experts in Indonesia. "ITB can only take in few students due to lack of facilities," said Bandung Institute of Technology (ITB) rector Djoko Santoso, after signing an MoU on educational assistance with Total Indonesia at ITB campus in Bandung last Wednesday.

Djoko was concerned that the quality will decline if the campus insists on admitting students more than it is able to. The facilities, like laboratories, still need much improvement. According to Djoko, the limitations have allowed foreign oil experts to fill the vacancies in the job market. ITB is the only state-owned university to offer courses on oil issues. Every year, the campus graduates around 60 oil engineers.
