Shoppers can swap waste for vouchers

JAKARTA: Starting June 18, shoppers will be able to swap their inorganic waste for point rewards, which later could be exchanged with vouchers at Carrefour retail outlets every day from Wednesday to Saturday between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m..

This activity is part of the Green City, Green Communities program, which was launched on Wednesday by various parties concerned with the waste treatment issue.

"The program is meant to raise public awareness to take part in the waste treatment drive," said a joint statement made by the committee.

The parties involved in the program are PT JDFI, which runs four radio stations here, United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization, Indonesia Waste Forum, Carrefour, Lifebuoy and Kirai Foundation. --JP
