Shop/houses to be demolished

TANGERANG, West Java (JP): Local authorities plan to demolish 12 shop/houses illegally built in the Cimone Alam Permai housing complex.

The head of Tangerang regency public order office, Suparman, said yesterday there were no permits for the buildings which were on plots designated for public facilities.

"There is no reason for the developer, PT Bumi Tangerang Alam Permai to build any structures on the land," Suparman said.

A warning letter was sent to the developer on Nov. 13. The letter ordered the developer to demolish the illegal structures by Nov. 19.

A Tangerang mayoralty source said the company's director, Hengky Sucipto, sent a letter to the Tangerang Mayor Djakaria Machmud on Nov. 19, saying the building of the shop/houses was meant to curb illegal shanties which squatters might build.

Hengky was unavailable for comment. (27/sur)
