The Head of Operations at the Central Jakarta Fire and Rescue Department, Triyanto, stated that the fire was reported to officers at 05:26 WIB. The location of the fire was at Jalan Mega Grosir, Cempaka Mas shophouse complex, Block J 7-8, RW 008, Sumur Batu Village, Kemayoran, Central Jakarta.

“The building that caught fire was a commercial building in the form of a shophouse,” said Triyanto in a statement on Thursday (June 4, 2026).

Triyanto explained that the fire was first noticed around 05:00 WIB. At that time, security personnel who were conducting a routine patrol of the area saw smoke billowing from inside the shophouse.

According to him, the security personnel initially tried to extinguish the fire using a portable fire extinguisher by breaking the shophouse’s glass window. However, the attempt was unsuccessful, so the incident was reported to the Fire and Rescue Department.

“The security guard saw smoke coming from inside the shophouse. The security guard tried to put out the fire using a fire extinguisher by breaking the glass, but it didn’t work, so they reported the incident to the fire department,” he said.

Two fire trucks from the Serdang Post were the first to be deployed to the location. The first unit arrived at 05:32 WIB, and officers immediately began extinguishing the fire one minute later.

The fire was successfully contained at 05:50 WIB. Subsequently, officers carried out a cooling process until 06:20 WIB. The fire handling operation was declared complete at 07:00 WIB.

A total of 14 units and 70 personnel were deployed in the operation. The details consist of two units from the Serdang Post, three units from the Kemayoran Sector, three units from the Cempaka Putih Sector, one unit from the Office of the Department, and five units from the Central Jakarta Fire and Rescue Department.

There were no casualties or injuries in the incident. The area affected by the fire was approximately 54 square meters.

Meanwhile, the cause of the fire is still under investigation. The value of the losses caused by the incident is still being recorded by officers. (bel/whn)
