Shopee Package Warehouse, Plastics, and Spare Parts Storage Burn in Tangerang

A fire destroyed three warehouses in the Sentra Kosambi industrial area, Kosambi District, Tangerang Regency, Banten, on Sunday. The blaze, which started around 10:10 a.m. local time, engulfed a Shopee package storage warehouse, a plastics warehouse, and a motorcycle spare parts warehouse.

Husni, the commander of the Tangerang Regency Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) firefighting unit, stated that the fire is suspected to have originated from an electrical short circuit in the Shopee warehouse. The flames then spread rapidly to the two neighbouring warehouses, which contained highly flammable materials.

‘The most severe damage is to the Shopee warehouse and the plastics warehouse,’ Husni explained.

A total of 11 fire engines and 60 personnel were dispatched to the scene to bring the situation under control. As of Sunday afternoon, firefighting operations were still ongoing. Husni confirmed that there have been no reports of fatalities or injuries resulting from the incident. The total value of the material losses has yet to be estimated.
