Shopee Launches 2026 MSME Journalism Competition
Jakarta (ANTARA) - Shopee is once again organising the Shopee MSME PATEN 2026 Journalism Appreciation to invite members of the press to document the transformation stories of micro, small, and medium enterprise (MSME) players in the digital economy era.
“We believe the media serves as an ‘important witness’ that closely follows the ups and downs of local entrepreneurs or MSMEs as they build businesses from scratch to successful growth. That is why we are once again inviting journalists to weave the stories of MSME struggles in various remote areas, so that the public can see firsthand how digital transformation truly revitalises the people’s economy and the MSME economy,” said Radynal Nataprawira, Deputy Director of Public Affairs at Shopee Indonesia, in an official statement on Monday.
The award programme is a regular initiative between Shopee Indonesia and the Ministry of MSMEs, designed to highlight inspiring stories of digital economy players, ranging from local brand owners to content creators who contribute to the e-commerce ecosystem.
According to Radynal, over the last decade, e-commerce technology penetration has triggered the decentralisation of business activities in Indonesia and opened opportunities for the emergence of new local entrepreneurs in various regions. Through journalistic works, the public can observe how technology provides more equitable market access for micro and small businesses, while simultaneously driving more even regional economic growth.
This year, the competition carries the theme “The New Face of the Indonesian Economy through MSMEs and Digital Platforms,” with sub-themes including affiliation, MSMEs and digitalisation, local product exports, hoax prevention, and digital security.
Shopee has prepared total prizes amounting to hundreds of millions of rupiah across four competition categories: print media, online media, audio-visual, and photography.
“Shopee looks forward to original works from journalists across Indonesia. Last year, one of the winners of the Shopee MSME PATEN Journalism Appreciation came from East Nusa Tenggara. It is entirely possible that even more inspiring and impactful works will emerge this year, from Papua, Aceh, Kalimantan, or other regions,” said Radynal.
Eligible entries include articles or reports published in the mass media between 1 October 2025 and 31 August 2026, with the submission deadline set for 31 August 2026 at 23:59 WIB.
