Shooting Perpetrator in Cilincing Beaten by Residents After Being Called Thief
Jakarta – F, the perpetrator of a shooting incident involving 23-year-old SH in Sukapura, Cilincing, North Jakarta, became a target of mob beatings by local residents.
“The one beaten was the one trying to collect (the debt),” said Cilincing Police Sector Head AKP Bobi Subasri when confirmed by Kompas.com on Tuesday (10 March 2026).
Bobi explained that the incident began when F and his accomplices arrived to collect a debt from SH, who was buying fried rice at the time.
“(The perpetrators arrived using) two motorcycles, numbering four people,” Bobi said.
Bobi noted that SH resisted, leading to a scuffle with the perpetrators. Subsequently, F fired an airsoft gun.
As a result of the shooting, F was shouted at as a thief by residents. This triggered a mob beating by residents.
“(The reason was) because F was collecting debt emotionally using an airsoft gun,” he explained.
Bobi stated that when police arrived at the scene, F had already been taken by residents to hospital.
To date, police are still investigating the debt that prompted the incident. Police are also investigating the legal ownership of the airsoft gun.
However, based on the victim’s account, the confrontation between himself and the perpetrators’ group is suspected to have been triggered by a debt of Rp 800,000 relating to cannabis purchases.
“Still under investigation. Being investigated,” he added.
