Shocking! Plastic Shakes Up Indonesia's Market, Prices Skyrocket
Plastic prices have experienced significant increases in various regions, with quite high surges. Monitoring by CNBC Indonesia at trader locations indicates that the price hike for plastic occurred before Lebaran. Prices for plastic of various sizes have risen by up to Rp6,000-Rp10,000 per pack. The price of shopping plastic bags per pack, which was previously Rp18,000, is now priced at Rp28,000 per pack. βIn particular, plastic containers have increased by around 80% from the usual price, from Rp40,000 up to Rp70,000,β said Edi, one of the wholesale plastic traders at Pasar Minggu. In modern retail, the price increase for plastic-based products is also starting to be felt, with several products still undergoing gradual price adjustments in line with the rising distribution and raw material costs. This plastic price increase is causing higher operational costs for traders, thus potentially squeezing profits and prompting some traders to adjust selling prices to consumers.
