The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) has revealed that there were parties who picked up Kuantan Singingi (Kuansing) Regent Suhardiman Amby whilst investigators were searching for him during a sting operation (OTT). Acting Director of Investigation at the KPK, Achmad Taufik Husein, stated that the information regarding the parties who collected him was known to the team, but the focus at the time was on locating Suhardiman and Kuansing Regional Secretary Zulkarnain. The team initially traced the whereabouts of Suhardiman and Zulkarnain at the official residence and several offices of the Kuantan Singingi Regency Government. However, the team did not find either of them and suspected they had already left the Kuantan Singingi Regency area. Consequently, the KPK split the team to continue the search as far as Pekanbaru, Riau. Previously, the KPK conducted a sting operation in Kuantan Singingi Regency, Riau, and Jakarta on 29 June 2026, securing 10 people. The operation was the 14th sting operation carried out by the KPK throughout 2026. Of the 10 people detained, five were taken to the KPK’s Merah Putih Building for intensive examination. They consisted of three private parties, a civil servant from the Kuantan Singingi Regency Government, and Suhardiman’s wife, Suci Nitia Edwar. The KPK then requested that Suhardiman and Kuantan Singingi Regional Secretary Zulkarnain surrender on 30 June 2026. Both complied with the request and were picked up by KPK investigators at Soekarno-Hatta Airport, Banten. On 1 July 2026, the KPK named Suhardiman Amby, Zulkarnain, and the President Director of PT Mitra Ideal Consultant, Ardiles, as suspects in a case of alleged bribery related to the buying and selling of positions within the Kuantan Singingi Regency Government. In addition to the alleged bribery, the KPK also suspects Suhardiman of receiving gratuities related to the release of limited production forest areas (HPT).
