Shocking Facts Behind Drug Raids at Medan's THM New Zone: HRD and Operations Manager Involved
Medan – Drug trafficking operations at the New Zone nightclub in Medan, North Sumatra, have been uncovered by the Bareskrim Police’s Narcotics Crime Directorate.
The case involves internal management staff, leading to four suspects being named and two fugitives still at large.
The discovery has drawn attention as police found evidence of unchecked drug transactions within the venue, with authorities suspecting internal personnel were monitoring raids to ensure illegal activities continued unimpeded.
Bareskrim Narcotics Crime Directorate Director Brigadier General Eko Hadi Santoso stated that all apprehended suspects were taken to the National Police Headquarters for intensive questioning and further investigation.
“Transferring suspects and evidence to the Bareskrim Narcotics Crime Directorate office for examination,” Santoso said, quoted on Wednesday, 27 May 2026.
The four suspects are Destri Ayu Lestari (39), Sherina Husnaini (19), Josef Liopisa alias Asiang (73), and Anthony Wijaya alias Aan.
Investigations revealed Destri acted as the narcotics supplier at THM New Zone, while Sherina is suspected of facilitating transactions.
Josef Liopisa, known as the HR administrator, is alleged to have monitored police raids and allowed drug trafficking to continue at the venue.
“And allowing drug trafficking to persist at the nightclub,” he said.
Anthony Wijaya, alias Aan, is suspected of being the operations manager who knew about and facilitated the drug sales at the venue.
“Fact found that free drug trading occurred at New Zone nightclub involving management,” he said.
The case was uncovered following a joint operation by Subdit IV and NIC Task Force, led by Commissioner Handik Zusen and Commissioner Kevin Leleury, which conducted a large-scale raid at the location.
During the operation, police detained 34 individuals, several of whom tested positive for drug use.
