Shock as Infant Found in Drain in Runggu, Bima; Police Launch Investigation
Residents of Runggu Village, Belo District, Bima Regency, West Nusa Tenggara (NTB), have been left in shock following the discovery of an infant. The male infant was found lifeless in a drain located in front of a resident’s house.
“It was found this morning,” said Ahmad, a resident of Runggu Village, as confirmed to detikBali on Saturday (12/09/202<0xA0>26).
Ahmad revealed that the infant was discovered by a passer-by. The discovery immediately drew significant attention and caused crowds of local residents to gather at the scene.
“We were all shocked; an infant was found in the drain in front of a house in RT 07,” he added.
The discovery was subsequently reported to the Belo Police Sector. Ahmad expressed his hope that the police could identify the parents of the infant.
“This is a disgrace to our village. The case must be thoroughly investigated by the police. It is possible that the infant was intentionally abandoned as a result of an extramarital affair,” he concluded.
The Chief of Belo Police, Inspector Johansyah, confirmed the discovery of the infant. He stated that a medical team from the Belo Community Health Centre (Puskesmas) had also attended the scene to conduct data collection, evacuation, and examination.
“That is correct. We are currently investigating. We have just returned from the crime scene,” said Johansyah.
