Shock as Elderly Man Found Dead, Bound with Wire at Taman Pramuka in Tangerang City
The discovery of a man’s body in a park along Jalan Daan Mogot, Tangerang City, has shocked local residents. The victim was found with wire tied around his neck.
“The body of a male was found hanging with a wire approximately 3 metres long, which was tied around the victim’s neck in a hanging position and fastened to a boundary fence post,” said AKP Prapto Lasono, Head of Public Relations for the Tangerang City Metro Police, in a statement on Thursday (18/6/2026).
The victim was first discovered on Wednesday afternoon, 17 June 2026, precisely at Taman Pramuka, Jalan Raya Daan Mogot, Sukaasih Village, Tangerang District, Tangerang City. The body was found after witnesses noticed a foul smell around the location.
“According to statements from witnesses Kaswan and Kasudin, owners of a rice stall near the crime scene, they detected an unpleasant odour coming from around Taman Pramuka,” he added.
The two witnesses then searched for the source of the foul smell. They were shocked to find a body hanging from the boundary fence post.
The discovery of the body at 4:45 PM Western Indonesian Time that afternoon was subsequently reported to the police. Officers arrived at the location to identify the body and process the crime scene.
“The cause of death is still under investigation,” said Prapto.
The victim was identified as a male with the initials S (75), a resident of Cikokol, Tangerang District. The body was later evacuated to a hospital for autopsy purposes.
Meanwhile, from the crime scene investigation, police found items belonging to the victim, including a mobile phone, a wallet containing an ID card and BPJS card, and Rp 54,000 in cash. Police also secured the wire, which was approximately 3 metres long.
