Shiseido to open Bali office
TOKYO (AFP): Japan's cosmetic giant Shiseido Co. Ltd. said
Friday it will launch a relaxation business in Bali, Indonesia,
in early 2001, to help people overcome the stresses of modern
city life.
The business "will capitalize on Bali's magnificent natural
environment and Shiseido's beauty treatment technology," Shiseido
said in a statement.
The Japanese firm will set up a hotel in partnership with the
Indonesian firm PT Puri Saren Agung and it will focus on beauty
treatment massage services and spa facilities, such as swimming
pools and jacuzzi, it said.
Shiseido chose Bali for the site of the business because of "a
rich history, fascinating culture and tremendous natural beauty,"
it said.
The joint venture, 85 percent owned by Shiseido, has capital
of US$9.3 million.
