Ship's crew missing at sea

KUPANG, East Nusa Tenggara: Ten of the 12 crew members of the Cipta Perdana ship which capsized in rough seas in Pukuafu Strait last Tuesday were still missing yesterday, Antara reported.

The accident was not reported to the local Transportation Office until Thursday, when a search mission was dispatched to the area. The ship's captain and a member of the crew who survived the ordeal filed the report.

The ship, carrying 75 barrels of fuel, cement, tobacco and other goods, set off on Monday evening from Kupang towards Rote Island. It was forced to berth overnight on s small island because of rough seas and tried to sail again the following morning but bad luck struck again and it sank. (emb)
