Police are investigating the alleged forgery of shipping documents for 25 head of cattle that were previously halted by quarantine officers at Gilimanuk Port, Jembrana, Bali. Currently, investigators are tracing the cattle owner and the validity of the documents used to deceive the officers.

The Head of Criminal Investigation at Jembrana Police Resort, AKP I Gede Alit Darmana, stated that he has gathered initial statements from the Gilimanuk Area Quarantine Office. According to him, the investigation is focused on the criminal element of forging quarantine documents.

“We have visited the Gilimanuk Quarantine Office. We are investigating the alleged fake documents,” Alit said when confirmed by detikBali on Friday (8/5/2026).

Alit emphasised that the investigation process is ongoing to uncover the perpetrators behind the illegal animal shipment. “We are currently conducting further investigations,” he added.

The Head of the Gilimanuk Area Quarantine Office, I Putu Agus Kusuma Atmaja, also does not yet know the identity of the owner of the dozens of cattle that were to be illegally shipped out of Bali. However, based on initial information, the cattle are suspected to originate from the Karangasem area.

“The owner is not yet certain, and the info is that the cattle are from Karangasem. It will be investigated by the Police Resort regarding the document forgery,” said Agus.

Previously, Gilimanuk Quarantine officers intercepted a truck loaded with 25 head of cattle at Gilimanuk Port on Thursday (7/5). The truck was forced to turn back to the quarantine pen because the animal shipping documents it carried were suspected to be fake.

Quarantine officers initially pursued and chased the truck with licence plate DK 8835 BQ to Gilimanuk Port. The pursuit was carried out amid high traffic of cattle shipments out of the area to meet sacrificial demands ahead of Eid al-Adha.

The truck along with the 25 head of cattle has been secured and turned back to the quarantine pen for in-depth examination. To the officers, the truck driver claimed not to know the details of the cattle owner he was transporting.
