The government’s 30% discount programme on sea transport tickets sold out before the end of the period. PT PELNI recorded a number of passengers that even exceeded the target during the 2026 Eid al-Fitr homecoming period.

PELNI’s President Director Tri Andayani stated that the realisation of discounted passengers reached 467,662 people or 105% of the initial target. “The realisation of discounted passengers is 467,662 passengers, or 105% of the initial projection of discounted passengers at 445,534 passengers,” said Tri Andayani on Sunday (5/4/2026).

The discount programme, which opened on 11 February for departures from 11 March to 5 April 2026, was officially closed on 3 April after the quota was exhausted. The high public interest was attributed to the large number of ticket sales on short-distance routes.

Tri Andayani said the programme helped the public access sea transport at more affordable costs. “Praise be to God, the 30% transport discount programme provided by the Government has received a positive response from the public,” said Tri Andayani.

Overall, national ticket sales during that period reached 487,905 tickets or 101.8% compared to the same period last year, which was 479,133 tickets.

Although the return flow has begun to decline, PELNI assured that services will continue to operate optimally until the closure of Eid transport on 6 April 2026.

“We also express our thanks to the Government, especially the Ministry of Transportation, which has entrusted this programme to PELNI,” said Tri Andayani.

PELNI emphasised that it continues to prioritise safety and maximum service for passengers who are still travelling even though the discount programme has ended.
