Jakarta (ANTARA) - Passengers utilising ship fleets during the mudik and return flow through Tanjung Priok Port, Jakarta, are receiving free health services from health posts provided by various government and non-government institutions or agencies.

These health posts have been established by several institutions or agencies, including the Indonesian Red Cross (PMI) Jakarta Utara, the Tanjung Priok Main Health Quarantine Centre (BBKK), and even certain political parties.

Reny A, an official from PMI Jakarta Utara, met at Tanjung Priok Port, Jakarta, on Thursday, stated that her organisation is providing health services from 13 to 24 March 2026, with operating hours from 08:00 WIB to 16:00 WIB.

The health services provided to passengers include checks for blood pressure (tension), sugar, cholesterol, uric acid, and others.

“If someone’s blood pressure is high, we give them medication to lower it. For anything else, they are advised to get checked again at the community health centre or the port hospital,” said Reny.

The purpose of establishing these health posts, according to her, is based on PMI Jakarta Utara’s desire to provide optimal health services to the community undertaking mudik.

“So, if for example they have a history of illness or something during mudik, they are advised to postpone the mudik or whatever,” said Reny.

Meanwhile, a doctor from the DPP PDI Perjuangan Health Team, Garda Hita Pramana, explained that their health post also provides checks for sugar, cholesterol, uric acid, and supplies medication in case of emergencies.

“From the medical team, if it is something we can handle, we will handle it as soon as possible. If we can provide medication for the journey, we can give it. But if the patient needs to be referred, if there is an emergency that we cannot handle here, we can refer them,” said Garda.

Garda explained that the health post under his management is open during the mudik and return flow, from 13 to 27 March 2025, with 24-hour operating hours or full days.

When asked about the reason for choosing Tanjung Priok Passenger Port as the location to open the health post, he said that mudik journeys by sea require a considerable amount of time, thus necessitating health monitoring for passengers.

“Tanjung Priok is one of the points chosen because it is the only passenger port in Jakarta. So we also focus on ships, which usually involve long journeys. So, we can monitor their health both before departure or after getting off the ship,” said Garda.

On that occasion, Garda warned that during the journey, mudik travellers should maintain their own health and optimise rest time.

“The weather is starting to be rainy season, hot, rain, hot. So, please also pay attention to what is eaten and what is drunk. Then, if there are pre-existing conditions, please get checked first before departing. And don’t forget to bring medications. Also, emergency medications that we usually carry, we should bring them too,” said Garda.
