The Kuala Tungkal Port’s River, Lake and Ferry Transport Authority (LLASDP) handled substantially increased passenger numbers on Sunday, 15 March, with 1,068 passengers arriving and 587 passengers departing through four terminal berths at the port in West Tanjung Jabung, Jambi. This represented a significant surge compared to the previous day, which had recorded 374 arriving passengers and 310 departing passengers.

The spike in passenger traffic is attributed to the approach of the Eid holiday, a major religious observance that typically sees increased inter-island travel as Indonesians make their way to their hometowns and family destinations. The MV Dumai Express 8, operating the Batam-Kuala Tungkal route, was among the vessels serving the elevated passenger demand during this period.

Local authorities, including members of the West Tanjung Jabung Police, were deployed to assist passengers and their luggage at the Kuala Tungkal Port terminal, ensuring smooth operations during the busy holiday travel season.
