Shining Under Danantara, Pegadaian Accelerates Gold Bank Ecosystem
PT Pegadaian (Persero) is increasingly demonstrating stellar business performance under the Danantara Investment Management Agency (BPI Danantara). This strategic synergy has proven successful in strengthening governance, accelerating business transformation, and reinforcing Pegadaian’s position as the primary driver of an innovative and sustainable national gold ecosystem. As of May 2026, the company’s total gold under management reached a remarkable 153.72 tonnes. This achievement is attributed to Pegadaian’s consistent and aggressive efforts to educate the public and build national literacy on gold investment, aiming to shift the paradigm so that society views gold as a productive, liquid investment asset rather than merely a traditional store of value.
Under Danantara’s umbrella, Pegadaian has solidified its role as the pioneer and sole Gold Bank in Indonesia with the most integrated upstream-to-downstream ecosystem, complete with international-standard vault storage facilities and a gold processing and retail plant through its subsidiary Galeri 24. This forms part of Pegadaian’s tangible contribution to supporting the government’s commodity downstreaming agenda outlined in the Asta Cita programme. Through the development of a national bullion ecosystem, Pegadaian ensures that Indonesia’s gold commodity does not stop at being raw material but is transformed into value-added products that can massively drive the domestic economy and improve public welfare.
‘We continuously strive to provide the best and most relevant products for the community’s needs. To that end, we offer comprehensive gold-based products, ranging from Gold Deposits, Corporate Gold Safekeeping, Gold Working Capital Loans, to gold trading. We also provide gold investment options such as gold instalment plans and gold savings accessible via the Tring! application,’ said PT Pegadaian (Persero) Director of Marketing, Sales and Product Development Selfie Dewiyanti in a written statement on Monday (6/7/2026).
In the first quarter of 2026, PT Pegadaian successfully proved its resilience as a pillar of national finance by recording positive performance up to 30 April 2026. Through an adaptive business strategy and aggressive gold ecosystem expansion, Pegadaian posted a net profit of Rp 4.38 trillion, growing 87.2% compared to Rp 2.34 trillion in the same period of 2025. This accelerated performance is also reflected in the realisation of total assets, which now stand at Rp 183.8 trillion, a 56% increase from the previous year’s Rp 117.8 trillion. This asset growth was supported by a surge in gross outstanding loans (OSL) to Rp 153.6 trillion, up 58.8% from the previous year’s Rp 96.7 trillion.
‘It is not easy to maintain consistent growth for one and a quarter centuries without immense customer loyalty and trust. We extend our deepest gratitude to the Indonesian people who continue to make Pegadaian their primary financial partner,’ said PT Pegadaian (Persero) President Director Damar Latri Setiawan. ‘This achievement is also the fruit of the dedication and hard work of all Pegadaian personnel,’ he added. Furthermore, Pegadaian is beginning to step onto the international stage, starting with strengthening its capital structure and gaining international market trust through the receipt of strategic funding facilities from Japanese banking giant Sumitomo Mitsui Banking Corporation (SMBC). Responding to modern investment trends, Pegadaian is also developing a Gold Exchange-Traded Fund (ETF) product to provide investors with flexibility in trading gold on the exchange in a liquid and transparent manner, and has expanded its physical operational reach by officially opening its first overseas branch office in Timor Leste. The robust synergy with Danantara has ushered PT Pegadaian into a new era as a financially sound strategic state asset, ready to compete competitively in regional and global markets.
