Shin Tae-yong Arrives, Rayhan Hannan Promises Best Performance

Persija Jakarta player Rayhan Hannan has promised to give his best performance for the team, which next season will be coached by the man who gave him his debut for the Indonesian national team, Shin Tae-yong (STY). STY was announced as Persija’s new head coach on 8 June on a three-year contract. The South Korean coach is tasked with leading the Kemayoran Tigers to become Super League champions. “Maybe I am always optimistic that we can give our best. Ultimately, we cannot determine the result; what we can determine is how we work on the pitch, how we try to win,” Hannan said during a Meet & Greet event at the Jakarta Fair Kemayoran, Jakarta International Expo, Central Jakarta, on Wednesday. STY’s presence at Persija could be happy news for Hannan, as the coach is known for favouring young players. Hannan, 22, was given his senior national team debut when STY fielded young players at the 2024 AFF Cup. In that tournament, which was STY’s last with the Garuda squad, Hannan played in three group stage matches, all as a starter. “And again, I cannot control the coach’s choices. If I am played, I will give my best, and if I am not played, I will try to get played,” he said. In the new era under STY, Persija has already brought in two players: Victor Dethan from PSM Makassar and goalkeeper Aqil Savik from Bhayangkara Presisi Lampung FC. Commenting on one of the club’s latest recruits, Dethan, Hannan said he was pleased with the arrival of the 21-year-old, who was his teammate in the Indonesian national team during the AFF Cup 2024. “Dethan is a good player and he will definitely help the team,” said Hannan, who last season scored three goals and provided one assist in 17 appearances for Persija.
