Shift in Online Gambling Headquarters from Cambodia and Others Revealed After Police Raid Building in West Jakarta
Indonesian police have revealed a shift in the headquarters of online gambling from Cambodia, Myanmar, and Laos to Indonesia. This was uncovered after police raided a building on Jalan Hayam Wuruk in West Jakarta, used as an online gambling (Judol) base. Compiled by detikcom on Sunday (10/5/2026), the National Central Bureau (NCB) Hubinter Polri disclosed that bases for online gambling and scams from Myanmar, Cambodia, to Laos are beginning to move to Indonesia. Secretary of NCB Hubinter Polri, Brigadier General Untung Widyatmoko, emphasised that they will not tolerate such activities. “Today’s developments show that the pattern of shifting transnational crimes is starting to move to Indonesia, as I mentioned yesterday when we in Batam uncovered the same thing, that after the regulation of online operation patterns, both scamming—consisting of love scams, online investments including online gambling,” said Untung. Untung stated that areas typically serving as online gambling servers are in Myanmar, Cambodia, Laos, and Vietnam. Now, those countries are intensifying enforcement. “As is known, the Indo-China region, particularly Myanmar, Cambodia, Laos, Vietnam, which have long been bases for recruitment and online criminal activities targeting transnational victims, foreign nationals,” he said. Untung mentioned that Polri has anticipated the shift of these Judol servers to Indonesia. Polri has taken action in several areas. “After being regulated, the shift to Indonesia has begun, and we have anticipated and predicted it. As we know, various arrest and disclosure efforts have been carried out from Surabaya, Denpasar, Surakarta, Yogyakarta, Batam, Sukabumi, and Bogor,” he said. Most recently, 321 foreign nationals were arrested in the raid on Hayam Wuruk. Of that number, 275 have been designated as suspects. “And today, 321 in Jakarta, at Hayam Wuruk. If you look at the situation of this place, this building, from the outside, it is very unsuspected that inside it contains criminal activities, in this case online gambling,” he added. Untung said the threat from this international network of Judol not only targets Indonesian society. He said the perpetrators also target people abroad. “And this phenomenon shows that the transnational crime threat uncovered by the Tidpidum Bareskrim Polri on online gambling certainly targets not only Indonesian society but also people abroad,” he stated. Polri has coordinated with Immigration to prevent the entry of nationals who previously served as online gambling servers in Southeast Asia. He said this is an anticipation of the development of online gambling cases. “We have also coordinated with Mr. Director General of Immigration on how to anticipate countries we indicate as subjects of interest or SOI. Especially the countries mentioned by Mr. Dir Tipiddum earlier, where nationals from those countries are indicated to have digital traces for committing transnational digital crimes,” he said. “You know Sihanoukville, Mae Sot, Poipet, you know Myawaddy, you know Bavet, you know Poipet, those are the places where the servers used to be and are now being regulated and starting to shift to Indonesian territory,” he concluded.
