Shifana evaluates her team still playing too hastily

Kudus (ANTARA) - Indonesia U-16 women’s national team player Shifana Rizka Nadhifa evaluated her team’s performance, which she felt was still too hasty in ball possession and finishing.

The Garuda Pertiwi team defeated Jordan three goals to nil in the semi-final of the Srikandi Merdeka Cup 2026 held at Supersoccer Arena, Kudus, Central Java, on Friday.

“Well, we did have a numerical advantage, 11 players against their 10. Why didn’t we add more goals? Because our play was not simple enough, we were too hasty in pushing forward,” said Shifana in a press conference after the match.

In the final, Timo Scheunemann’s side will face Thailand at Supersoccer Arena on Sunday (23/8).

“We are all certainly very happy, because the results of our hard work during the training camp, thank God, have been achieved and we can reach the final,” said the player who plays as a left wing-back.

Meanwhile, separately, coach Timo Scheunemann considered that the upcoming final will be a test to add experience for his team, given that Thailand is currently one of the countries with a strong women’s football ecosystem.
