Following her return to the big screen with ‘Petualangan Sherina 2’ (2023), actress and musician Sherina Munaf is set to star in a new film titled ‘Filosofi Teras’. The film is an adaptation of the bestselling book by Henry Manampiring.

Sherina’s return to acting is somewhat surprising, as she has been quite ‘selective’ in choosing film projects. Sherina stated that her return after almost three years of not appearing in a film is due to the ‘special appeal’ of this new project.

“Firstly, ‘Filosofi Teras’ is a book that has touched many people, not only touching them but also helping them in their lives,” Sherina said when met at MD Place, Setiabudi, South Jakarta, Wednesday (February 25).

Sherina admitted that she has known and been friends with the author of the book for a long time, even before the book ‘Filosofi Teras’ was published.

“So I trust in Henry’s work, which has now been adapted into a film. Although the format is different, it will surely be able to help many people out there,” she added.

Regarding her ‘selective’ approach to choosing film projects, Sherina denied this, stating that she has been exploring other artistic disciplines. She expressed her gratitude for still being trusted to return to acting.

“I don’t want to say that I’m selective in films, because what I do in this industry is varied. I just go with the flow, whatever is needed, I’ll do it,” she said.

“For a while, I focused on music, and eventually, I also went to Japan to explore other things, because I really love art in various forms. And acting is one of them. In fact, I am very grateful that there are still people who believe in me, even though my portfolio is not as extensive as some of my other colleagues.”

The film, produced by MD Pictures, will begin filming in the middle of Ramadan and is expected to continue during the Eid al-Fitr holiday. In addition to Sherina, the film will also star Zee Ashadel, Ge Pamungkas, Lydia Kandou, Rangga Natra, Kiki Narendra, and Putri Ayudya.

For Sherina, when reading the book ‘Filosofi Teras’, there were many things that she applied to her own life.

“There are many things that I have applied in my life, there are many events in our lives. As humans, we will definitely experience many things, there is no life without problems. In the end, whether it is acquired automatically, and when reading ‘Filosofi Teras’, it’s like, ‘It turns out that I have automatically done this and this, and there is an understanding of it,’” Sherina said.
