Sheraton Y2K compliant

JAKARTA (JP): Sheraton Bandara Hotel announced on Friday that it had spent US$50,000 to prepare the hotel for the millennium bug.

Public relations manager Esther Pormes said all hotel equipment vulnerable to Y2K problems had been upgraded and tested to make them compliant.

The hotel established a special task force early this year to address the issue. It is now in the phase of replacing and upgrading all other equipment, she said.

"We want to tell our customers that we have been preparing for the millennium bug."

The hotel, located near Jakarta's Soekarno-Hatta Airport, is owned by international hotel chain Starwood Hotels and Resorts Worldwide, which operates more than 650 hotels and resorts in over 70 countries. (gis)
