Shenzhen, China - Shell Recharge and SINEXCEL (300693.SZ) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) and inaugurated the Shell Recharge–SINEXCEL Joint Laboratory in Shenzhen. This step marks a new momentum in the collaboration between the two companies to develop next-generation electric vehicle (EV) charging technology and sustainable energy solutions. The MoU was signed by Chief Engineer of Shell E-Mobility China, Evan Li, and General Manager of EV Charging Solutions at SINEXCEL, Kecheng Guo, witnessed by senior leaders from both companies.

Focusing on Five Strategic Technology Areas

As the global EV industry’s demand for faster, more efficient, and smarter charging systems surges, Shell Recharge and SINEXCEL are combining their respective strengths to address various challenges in the sector. Shell brings global experience in the energy sector, while SINEXCEL contributes expertise in power electronics technology. This joint laboratory will serve as a hub for technology collaboration, research and development (R&D), project incubation, and testing of new innovations. In its initial phase, the laboratory will focus on five main areas: a new generation of ultra-fast charging supported by lightweight and high-efficiency architecture; an integrated scheduling system between cloud computing and chargers to improve energy management efficiency; integrated solar energy, energy storage, and charging solutions to maximise renewable energy utilisation; megawatt charging technology for large commercial vehicles and logistics fleets; and intelligent operation and maintenance (O&M) technology utilising AI for real-time monitoring and predictive maintenance to enhance operational efficiency.

Aligning Strategies for Long-Term Value Creation

During the MoU inauguration event, both companies also discussed aligning their product development strategies and global market expansion plans. “This joint laboratory is not only a means to address key technical challenges but also a vessel for innovation in developing new business models and creating added value for customers,” said Evan Li, Chief Engineer of Shell E-Mobility China. “By combining Shell’s global experience in the energy retail sector with cutting-edge hardware technology, we aim to accelerate the application of research results into real solutions that the market can use. This step will also drive the EV charging ecosystem towards higher quality and sustainable growth.” Kecheng Guo, General Manager of EV Charging Solutions at SINEXCEL, added: “This partnership combines the strengths of both companies to deliver more competitive solutions to the market. Together with Shell Recharge, we will provide more competitive and integrated solutions so that the charging experience becomes faster, smarter, and more reliable. This collaboration is also our tangible contribution to supporting the development of the global green energy ecosystem.”

New Momentum for Sustainable Mobility

The inauguration of this joint laboratory marks the beginning of the fully operational phase of the Shell Recharge and SINEXCEL partnership. Going forward, both companies will utilise the facility to develop various technological innovations and expand their application across multiple sectors. Shell Recharge and SINEXCEL aim to accelerate the transition towards a cleaner, safer, and more efficient global energy system.
