Sharp Increase: NTT Allocated 5,000 House Renovations in 2026
The house renovation programme in East Nusa Tenggara (NTT) has seen a dramatic surge. From 436 units in 2025, the number is targeted to reach 5,000 houses in 2026. This sharp increase was revealed during a meeting between NTT Governor Emanuel Melkiades Laka Lena and the Minister of Housing and Settlement Areas (Ministry of PKP) Maruarar Sirait on Thursday (2/4). Laka Lena explained that the meeting discussed accelerating housing and settlement area development in NTT. “The meeting was held at the invitation of the Minister of Housing and Settlement Areas to the NTT governor and regents across NTT to discuss various programmes in the ministry,” said Laka Lena in a press release received by detikBali on Friday (3/4/2026). One of the topics discussed, he said, was the house renovation programme, which will see a significant increase in 2026. “In this discussion, we addressed settlement development programmes in the region, including house renovations from 436 in 2025 to 5,000 in 2026. This represents a twelvefold increase or 1,200 percent, distributed across 22 regencies/cities,” explained Laka Lena. In addition to the house renovation programme, the discussion also covered the People’s Business Credit (KUR) for Housing. “KUR for Housing is an initiative from President Prabowo, executed by the Minister of PKP, including a 5 percent interest subsidy and a 30-year repayment tenure,” he added. According to him, the programme is seen as facilitating access to homeownership for the public. “For example, low-ranking civil servants such as TNI, Polri, teachers, fishermen, small business owners, farmers, and SMEs,” he said. Laka Lena assessed that improving slum areas will also impact the welfare enhancement of poor communities. To assist poor communities, in addition to house renovation assistance, economic empowerment through the National Madani Capital (PNM) is also needed. “The NTT Provincial Government and the community extend their utmost gratitude to President Prabowo for paying attention to the poor people in NTT,” emphasised Laka Lena. According to him, the meeting also discussed plans for a working visit by the Minister of PKP to NTT to integrate national strategic programmes with local ones. In the meeting, besides Laka Lena, attendees included Regent of North Central Timor (TTU) Falentinus Delasalle Kebo, Regent of Sabu Raijua Krisman Riwu Kore, Head of NTT Public Works and Public Housing (PUPR) Benyamin Nahak, and Head of the NTT Provincial Liaison Office in Jakarta Florida Taty Setyawat.
