Sharing our riches
Sharing our riches
From Rakyat Merdeka
Now our country is in a terrible mess attributable to, among
other things, too many members of the political elite vying for
power, and this power struggle has brought about suffering for
the people of Indonesia.
Strapped by massive off-shore loans, Indonesia is then labeled
by foreign countries as a poor nation. Whereas, compared with
other countries, Indonesia is very rich in natural resources.
Unfortunately, its people cannot enjoy all the riches bestowed,
as what we have here is being plundered and wasted by
irresponsible people.
I am deeply saddened to see this mess and am yearning for
tranquility. The political elite are too preoccupied with their
own business, such that they don't seem to care about the
people's suffering and the condition of this country. They should
open their eyes to this fact: they should not be laughing,
singing and carrying on enjoying their party, while the people
around them are suffering.
If only they could share some of their wealth, the people
would certainly be freed from their agonies.
