Sharia Police Committed to Enforcing Islamic Law in Subulussalam City
SUBULUSSALAM – The Civil Service Police Unit and Wilayatul Hisbah (Satpol-PP and WH) have reaffirmed their commitment to enforcing Islamic Sharia law in the Subulussalam City area.
This was conveyed directly by the Head of Satpol-PP and WH, Abdul Malik, through the Head of the WH Division, Jamaludin SH, on Thursday (17/7/25) at his office.
"The Sharia law enforcement patrol operation last night in the Subulussalam City area is part of our routine activities in enforcing Islamic Sharia law in this land of Serambi Mekah," said Jamaludin.
He added that the routine patrol by Satpol-PP and WH Subulussalam City was focused specifically on the Simpang Kiri sub-district area. The location was targeted following direct reports from local residents, prompting Satpol-PP and WH to conduct the patrol.
Satpol-PP and WH also enlisted the participation of the Simpang Kiri sub-district Muspika (local military and police coordination forum) as well as village officials.
Jamaludin explained that several locations in Simpang Kiri sub-district were targeted during the operation, where suspected violations of Islamic Sharia law had been reported. However, the team found no such activities on the ground during the operation.
Nevertheless, Satpol-PP and WH proceeded to summon the operators of the reported premises for clarification regarding the community reports.
Jamaludin urged the people of Subulussalam City to comply with Aceh Qanun Number 6 of 2014 concerning Islamic Sharia law in the land of Serambi Mekah, particularly in the blessed land of Sheikh Hamzah Fansury.
The core duties of Satpol-PP and WH (Wilayatul Hisbah) are to maintain and uphold public order and community peace, as well as to enforce regional regulations (Qanun) and governor's regulations, including the enforcement of Islamic Sharia law in Aceh. They also carry out socialisation, supervision, guidance, investigation, and assist in the execution of sentences related to legislation.
