Sharia Bank Enters KMT Payment Ecosystem
Commuter Line travel transactions are now integrated with digital banking services. Users of PT Kereta Commuter Indonesia’s (KCI) Multi Trip Card (KMT) can now top up their card balance through mobile banking applications.
The integration was carried out by Bank Syariah Nasional (BSN) through its Bale Syariah by BSN application. This service becomes the first mobile banking platform integrated with KMT for balance top-up needs.
BSN President Director Alex Sofjan Noor said the integration was undertaken to make it easier for Commuter Line users to meet their transaction needs during daily mobility.
“What matters most to us is not simply being the first. What is far more important is whether this innovation genuinely makes people’s journeys easier,” Alex said in Jakarta on Saturday (15/8).
According to Alex, the integration of banking and transport services makes people’s financial and mobility needs increasingly connected. KMT users no longer need to top up their balance in person at specific locations because the top-up process can be done via mobile phone.
“The integration of Bale Syariah by BSN with KCI’s KMT is an important milestone for the nation’s Islamic banking industry. We are proud to be the first mobile banking service to present a KMT top-up feature directly in the palm of your hand,” he said.
This integration is a continuation of the cooperation between Bank BSN and KCI that began in March 2026 through the signing of a memorandum of understanding and the launch of the KMT Co-Brand.
The move also expands the use of digital banking services into the public transport sector, particularly for people who use the Commuter Line as their daily mode of mobility.
Alongside the integration, Bank BSN and KCI also launched a special KMT Co-Brand edition commemorating the 81st Anniversary of Indonesian Independence. The limited edition card is part of the two parties’ cooperation in developing services connected to Commuter Line users.
“Every day the Commuter Line carries people to work, to pursue education, and to chase their hopes. The card may be small, but hopefully it becomes a symbol of a great spirit, of continuing to move and advance together with Indonesia,” Alex said.
Under this programme, prospective new customers who open a Bale Syariah by BSN account with an initial deposit in accordance with the terms and conditions will receive the special 81st Independence Day edition KMT free of charge, along with a top-up balance worth Rp81,000.
