JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com - Shares of large-capitalisation banks, or big banks, uniformly moved into negative territory at the close of the first trading session on Monday (11/5/2026). This weakness also pressured the Composite Stock Price Index (IHSG), which corrected by more than 1 percent.

The deepest pressure was felt by shares of PT Bank Mandiri Tbk (BMRI). By midday, BMRI shares were at Rp 4,260, down 7.99 percent.

In addition to BMRI, other major bank shares also weakened. Shares of PT Bank Rakyat Indonesia Tbk (BBRI) fell 1.53 percent to Rp 3,210.

Meanwhile, shares of PT Bank Negara Indonesia Tbk (BBNI) corrected 1.30 percent to Rp 3,810.

Based on data from the Indonesia Stock Exchange (BEI), the IHSG closed down 1.14 percent at 6,890.272 at the end of the first trading session. The index’s weakness was triggered by selling actions on several big-cap stocks that have significant weight in market movements.

Besides the banking sector, shares of PT Dian Swastatika Sentosa Tbk (DSSA) became one of the main drags after plunging 8 percent.

Additionally, PT Barito Renewables Energy Tbk (BREN), which weakened 5.1 percent, and PT Chandra Asri Pacific Tbk (TPIA), which corrected 5 percent.

On the other hand, the Shanghai exchange managed to move positively with a gain approaching 1 percent.

In terms of sectors, only two sectoral indices managed to stay in positive territory. Meanwhile, the transportation and energy sectors experienced the deepest declines and added pressure to the IHSG’s movement throughout the first trading session.
