Share prices fall on Jakarta Stock Exchange
JAKARTA (JP): Most share prices closed lower on the Jakarta Stock Exchange (JSX) yesterday.
The broad-based Composite Index, which gained almost two points to close at 462.64 on Wednesday, fell slightly to 462.55 yesterday.
The narrower-based GTDBS-50 Index, which is calculated on the basis of major liquid shares, closed higher at 107.9 yesterday from 107.44 on Wednesday.
A broker said 120.12 million new shares of PT Gajah Surya Multi Finance were listed yesterday, bringing the number of the company's total shares traded on the JSX to 160.16 million.
Among the significantly increasing shares were Kalbe Farma (up Rp 500), Sumalindo Lestari Jaya and Modernland Realty (up RP 400 each) and Bayer Indonesia and Astra Int'l (up Rp 350 each).
Losers included Sari Husada and Bank Niaga (down Rp 1,000 each), Panin Life (down Rp 700), Panca Wiratama Sakti, Mayatexdian (down Rp 500 each), Kabelindo Murni (down Rp 400) and Plaza Indonesia Realty (down Rp 325).
Trading volume increased to 35.18 million shares valued at Rp 151.79 billion (US$70.63 million) yesterday from 17.21 million shares worth Rp 73.57 billion ($34.24 million) on Wednesday.
A total of 11.5 million shares changed hands yesterday at Rp 44.09 billion on the regular board, 200,000 shares at Rp 680 billion on the block sale board and 22.06 million shares at Rp 101.91 billion on the crossing board. Some 1.41 million shares valued at Rp 5.09 billion were traded on the foreign board.
No transactions were recorded on the odd lot or cash trading boards.(icn)
